As a paramedic and a paramedic preceptor this book re-energized me to become better in every aspect of my profession. Lays out a blueprint for how to truly become a professional paramedic and the importance of passing that knowledge on to students we precept.
I’ve read this twice now and can say that it is a must read for any person that considers themselves a first responder. I don’t care if you’re brand new, 20 year veteran, private EMS provider, fire medic, anything....read it. It is a gut check that everyone needs. Chris and Sam practice what they preach and I’m impressed by how they were able to get these thoughts on paper. It is imperative you read this. Thanks guys!

The book in its entirety is a breath of fresh air in helping to develop the character and ideals that seem to be falling by the wayside in our profession as a whole.Knowing the Adams Brothers as I do, It's no surprise this book is being well received and lauded across the internet and EMS podcasts. Their unshakable foundation of ideals and professional beliefs comes to light in this easy, yet engaging read. Not only do the Adams Brothers break down the ideal traits for what a professional first responder should embody, they also force one to take a serious look within and see which attributes shine for themselves.Particularly noteworthy is the chapter entitled "There Is No Gray". THIS!! This chapter is without a doubt the most controversial writing that a provider who does the minimum to skate through their career will ever read, if they read it at all. The ideal, there is no gray, is something that puts the responsibility of action or inaction squarely on the provider. I wholeheartedly agree with everything in this chapter.I've had the privilege of working with Chris & Sam Adams for several years when they were just starting in EMS. Their zeal for being the best they could be and treating everyone with respect showed from day one. It has never been about being better than anyone for them. It has always been about being better to better everyone around them. This I learned from being their mentor.
It was my pleasure to work with Sam and Chris Adams in editing this important contribution to the EMT field. It's first responders like these twin brothers who make the rest of us feel safe and secure knowing they're on the other end of a 9-1-1 call. Their dedication and passion for service shines through in this manual.

This book provides excellent insight to decision making for EMS providers. Christian and Samuel Adams provide an excellent path into decision making that is not taught in the classroom. The flow of the book and their grasp of the subject makes it an easy read.
It is refreshing to see a book written by true professionals who put these lesson into practice every day. These are the people that we expect to come when we dial 911.
